Bonnet head shark caught by fisherman in the surf of Florida's east coast


Bonnet head sharks are related to the shovel nose sharks and the scoop head sharks. All fall under the Hammer Head family, SPHYRNIDAE. They frequent the warmer waters off the Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida. The bonnet head is relatively small, five feet in length. The face resembles a bonnet as it wraps around the head.
