Princess Neferet (Nofret) lived during the Fourth Dynasty. Her husband was Prince Rahotep, the son of the ruler Snefru.
This bust of Princess Nofret (also spelled Neferet and Nefret) is housed in the Cairo Museum in Egypt. Neferet lived during the Fourth Dynasty. Her husband was Prince Rahotep, the son of the ruler Snefru, the founder of the Fourth Dynasty. Neferet was buried with husband in a mastaba in Meidum. In 1871, this statue, along with one of Prince Rahotep were uncovered in the tomb. It shows Neferet with a black wig. Her skin color reflects the tradition of the time of having women with light-colored skin as their domain and men with darker-colored skin. She still has her inlaid eyes of image is from Gaston Maspero's Art of Egypt published in 1921.
