CHAPTER VIILCANADIAN MINING LAWS. INERS in the Klondike region mustpay the Canadian government an en-try fee of $15 for the first year, andan annual fee of $100 for each of thefollowing years. No miner will re-ceive a grant for more than one min-ing claim in the same locality, butthe same miner may hold any num-ber of claims by purchase. The Dominion government pro-poses to charge a royalty for the use of its land by goldminers. This royalty will amount to 10 per cent on allamounts taken out of any one claim up to $500 a week,and over that output 20 per cent. The royalty will becollected on gold taken from streams already beingworked, but in regard to all future discoveries, the govern-ment proposes that upon every river and creek wheremining locations shall be staked out, every alternate claimshall be the property of the crown.
