Cardinal Richelieu, French prelate and statesman. Armand Jean Duplessis, Duc de Richelieu (1585-1642) who was made a cardinal in 1622. Richelieu was Minister of State to Louis XII and de facto ruler of France from 1629. Taken from the 'Leaders of Men' cigarette cards produced by Ogdens 1924.
