Lut desert, Iran


Lut desert in Iran. Yardangs are irregular ridges of sand formed in the direction of the dominant wind in exposed desert regions. These yardangs are known as kaluts. In the Lut Desert, some are up to 155 metres high and their ridges can be followed for more than 40 kilometres. The Lut Desert was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016.
