It was incor-porated in 1835 as Tlie Falmouth Academy, in 1843 the institutionreceived a legacy of $10,000, and the name was changed to LawrenceAcademy. In I890 the Academy property was sold to the town, and the old-timeand honored institute of learning was merged into the Lawrence High the teachers of the Lawrence Academy were Messrs. Swift, Coffin,Dillingham, Clarke, Adams, Cross, Hunt, and Holton. 46
