WISE space telescope. Computer artwork of NASA's Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) spacecraft in Earth orbit. WISE is an infrared-wavelength astronomical space telescope that was active from December 2009 to February 2011. It discovered the first Y Dwarf and Earth trojan, as well as tens of thousands of new asteroids. In September 2013, it was reactivated and assigned to assist NASA's efforts to identify the population of potentially hazardous near-Earth objects.
