At Antelope it was found that a brakehead on one car was broken, due to an oldcrack, and a bottom rod on another wasbent so badly that the piston was allowedto come into contact with the non-pressurehead so the brakes on these two cars werecut out, and as the brakes on the caboosewere not working the remaining 2^ milesof 4 per cent grade was made with 32brakes holding 35 cars which weighedgross 2,431 tons, or slightly less than 76tons per brake. The observers on the rear reported theslack action as nil.
