New York, United States. 07th Mar, 2017. United Nations Statistical Commission today opened its 48th Session. This year the Commission celebrates 70 years. The Statistical Commission is made up of 24 United Nations members elected by the United Nations Economic and Social Council on the basis of equitable geographical distribution. The term of office of members shall be four years. The United Nations Statistics Division is committed to advancing the global statistical system by helping countries compile their social data.
