He isa member of the American Association for theAdvancment of Science, the American ForestryAssociation, the Michigan Forestry Association, the 3i6 UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN Society of American Foresters, the Canadian For-estry Association, the Washington Academy of Sci-ences, and the Michigan Academy of Science. GOTTHELF CARL RUBER was born inHoobly, India, August 30, 1865, son of the ReverendJohn and Barabara (Weber) Hubcr, his family onboth sides being Swiss. His early life from histwelfth year was spent in Attica, New York, wherehe was educated under private instruction, in thepublic schools, and at the .Attica .Academy. Havingbeen graduated from the last-named school in 1883,he entered the University of Michigan and was grad-uated Doctor of Medicine in 18S7. Since that datehe has stuilied abroad one year at the Universityof Berlin, in i89r-i892, and five months at theUniversity of Prague, in 1895. Since graduation hehas been continuously connected with the medicalinstruction in the University of Michigan.
