Lava Fountain, 1969
Lava fountain of June 25, 1969. This fountain lasted a little over 9 hours and reached a maximum height of 220m (500ft) during the fourth episode of high and sustained fountaining of the Mauna Ulu eruption. It is a good example of what many volcanologists term a Hawaiian fountain. Mauna Ulu, on the eastern flank of Kilauea, erupted in phases from 1969 until 1974.
