The Catholic chapel Notre-Dame-du-Murier in Batz-sur-Mer, built in 1496 in Gothic style, was badly damaged by a hurricane in 1819 and was not rebuilt afterwards. The romantic-looking ruins of the building were classified as a historical monument in 1862.
