, Germany, Thuringia, Weimar - Buchenwald Memorial (KZ-Gedenkstaette), tracks at Buchenwald railway station. The railway connection to Weimar, built by Haeftlingen in 1943, was initially used to supply the armaments factory next to the camp. Scheduled trains could also be used by the population. From 1944 onwards, people from all German-occupied countries were deported to Buchenwald concentration camp and from there to the satellite camps for work. The Buchenwald railway station was also the departure point for extermination transports to Auschwitz.
