The steam turbine equipment which has been installedunder the balcony side of the engine room farthest awayfrom the boiler consists of two 1,000-kilowatt capacity, 4-stage Curtis turbines with 60-cycle, 2,300-4,000-volt gener-ators. Each turbine unit with its condenser equipment isindependent of the other. The installation of auxiliaries for. each unit includes a Prescott condenser with 4,000 squarefeet of 1-inch tubes, a steam-driven dry-vacuum pump, amotor-driven wet-vacuum pump and a motor-driven circulat-ing pump. The pressure on thestep bearings is maintained bytwo cross-connected, steam-driven pumps. The excitationfor the turbine fields is fur-nished by a 150-kilowatt motor-generator Apparatus and switchboard for control-ing the output of the generatorsand handling the auxiliary cur-rent used throughout the powerplant is mounted on the gallerywhich is at the level of themain engine cylinders. Theboard is made up of i anels forcontrolling the following cir-cuits: 60-cycle lighting feederpanels; 6 panels for distribut-ing 3-phase current for single-phase are lighting; panels for19 single-phase, 60-cycle, 2,300-vo!t lighting feeders, each pan-el having a hand-throw, auto-matic-trip oil switch and watt-meter, voltmeter and ammeterand a double-throw, double-poleswitch to control the motor-opera
