Little remains of a county park and boat launch near Niland, on the eastern shore of California's Salton Sea, except for a handful of decrepit structures and these old utility poles. As the American southwest continues to dry up at an alarming rate—a victim of geography, drought, climate change, and ongoing water conflicts—the Salton Sea is disappearing. Today, once-popular tourist resorts and recreation areas, like this one, are mostly abandoned.
