In summer the southwestwinds blowing athwart the bay, fan the heated city to a mostcomfortable degree of temperature. The breeze gains strength atnightfall and the nights are deliciously cool. Nor is the city subjectto extremes of cold, compared with places of the same latitude in theinterior. The temperature of the water in the bay is said to be tendegrees warmer than that within Cape Cod ba}.
