This plant furnishes the material for the Panama PANDANUS UTILIS. Allegheny Conservatory. Carlud'ovica palmata. (Named after Charles IV. of Spain and Louisa, his queen. Palmata, hand-shaped leaved.) This is the best known and also the handsomest of this genus ; there is scarcely a conservatory or a greenhouse of any pretentions which has not some specimens of it. It is a native of Peru.
