Police and members of the public observe 2 minutes silence outside Belfairs Methodist Church in Eastwood Road North, Leigh on Sea, Southend on Sea, Essex after Conservative MP Sir David Amess died having being stabbed multiple times at his constituency surgery. Police said a 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder after the attack at the church in Leigh-on-Sea. They recovered a knife and were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
