Perfect prize-winning vegetables on display at Harrogate, Yorkshire, UK. 12th September, 2014. Harry Jackson; 86 years old, from Horsall Leeds with his exhibition Marrow 'Brighton Belle' selection at the Harrogate Annual Autumn Flower Show, where attractions include the giant vegetable competition, the show being ranked as one of Britain's top three gardening events.


A record number of growers from all over the country spend their spring and summer carefully nurturing their giant veg, ready for the battle of the bulge at this September event. There are 12 classes of marvelous monsters, including marrows, pumpkins, parsnips, carrots, leeks, beetroot, runner beans, tomatoes and potatoes. Harrogate is also famous for its national championships and the annual weigh-in trying to beat the world record.
