Over several thausand years breakers threw gravel to some granite stone at the coast of Vågsøy island at Norway's west coast and scrubbed away the rock and curved out a four meter high rockformation shaped like a mushroom. Im Laufe der Jahrtausende scheuerten von der Brandung gegen einen Granitfelsen an der Küste der norwegischen Insel Vågsøy geschleuderten Kieselsteine den harten Fels immer weiter ab bis im Brandungsbereich nur ein Granitpfeiler übrig blieb, auf dem der obere Teil des Felsens wie der Hut eines Pilzes thront.
