Captured English Ships after the Four Days’ Battle. Battered English and Dutch ships lie in Goeree Gat after the indecisive engagement known as the FourDays’ Battle (11–14 June 1666). In the foreground is the captured warship the Swiftsure, with the English royalarms on its counter. Its bowsprit, foremast and main mast have been splintered by cannon fire; the Englishflag droops off its stern. At the far right is the Hollandia, the heavily damaged ship of Cornelis Tromp.
