Entry of the French into Vienna, 14 November 1805, (c1850). Vienna, the capital of what was then the Austro-Hungarian Empire, fell to the French during the War of the Third Coalition. Less than three weeks later the war ended after Napoleon decisively defeated the combined armies of Russia and Austria at the Battle of Austerlitz.
