Berlin,Friedrichshain,Friedenstrasse 89-93. Historic Bohemian Brewery Brick Malthouse building - only the facade remains

Berlin, Friedrichshain, Friedenstrasse 89-93. The Bohemian Brauhaus (Böhmisches Brauhaus) was founded in 1868 by Armand Knoblauch. The site housed the brewery, multistoried beer cellars, a restaurant and a large beer garden. In 1898 a Daimler vehicle became Berlin’s first beer truck and construction of the “New Malthouse” (designed by architect Arthur Rohmer) began. The brewery merged with the Löwenbrauerei after WW1 to form the "Löwenbrauerei-Böhmisches Brauhaus AG and produced beer until 1952. During the GDR years the cellars were used for wine storage and the malthouse was a gym. The new malthouse building was converted into luxury apartments and a conference centre (1999-2001) The old malthouse is being redeveloped and only the shell remains.
