North American beaver chewing through a Trembling Aspen tree trunk after cutting it down, to make smaller pieces to be carried back to the lodge.

The beaver felled this aspen, then chewed the trunk into pieces and the branches off the tree, carting the pieces back to the lodge over the next few days. The leaves and bark were eventually eaten by the beaver family or put in their storage pile. Wood from the tree was added to the lodge structure.
