Whitehall Canteen- Eating Out in Wartime London, March 1943 Women of the Whitehall Canteen wait at the bus stop outside the National Gallery after the canteen has closed for the day. Left to right they are: Mrs Maini-Cooke, Mrs Bobby Kenyon, Mrs Potter, Mrs J P Tullock, Mrs Lubbock, Lady Gater, Mrs A Parnwell. Behind them, Nelson's Column can be clearly seen, as can a Lancaster bomber, set up in Trafalgar Square as part of Wings for Victory Week. Just behind the women, to the left of the photograph, a council worker empties the canteen's pig bin into a cart.
