Coloured radio image of the region surrounding the radio source Sagittarius A (Sgr A) in the centre of our Galaxy. The colour code runs from red for the brightest regions through yellow, green and blue for the faintest parts. The area shown here is about 180 light years across; it includes the very centre of our galaxy which is associated with the radio source Sagittarius A West, the large round, red complex at bottom right. The filaments at upper left form a feature known as the Arc and are probably caused by strong magnetic fields. Observers; F. Yusef-Zadeh & M. Morris.
