The Peace Bridge is a cycle and foot bridge across the River Foyle, connecting the city side with the Waterside, and is 235 metres in length. It was designed by Wilkinson Eyre. The bridge was opened on 25 June 2011 by EU Commissioner for Regional Policy Johannes Hahn. The bridge is intended to improve relations between the largely unionist Waterside with the largely nationalist Cityside, by improving access between these areas.
