Washington, DC., 5th September, 1989 President George Bush holds up a bag of crack cocaine during his first address to the nation from the Oval Office. "This is crack cocaine, it was seized a few days ago in a park across the street from the White House" he said showing how the drug trade had spread to even the president's own neighborhood. The three ounces of crack were purchased for $2,400 by DEA agents from a drug dealer that they lured to Lafayette Park across the street from the White House. Credit: Mark Reinstein
