It is placed by those gentlemenin the subfamily Thamnophilina, as forming the representative in Austral-asia of the American Thamnophili, and the African Malaconoti; but weare again at fault, from our total ignorance of their manner or habits. The length of the specimens we have examined, is about eight inches;the general form strong and robust, and a good deal similar to our texture of the plumage is also similar, with the exception of the fea-thers on the lower part of the back and upon the rum
