Grey wagtail. Female grey wagtail (Motacilla cinerea) stretching its wings. Grey wagtails are found throughout temperate Europe and Asia and parts of northern Africa. They are insectivorous and inhabit areas close to fast flowing streams. The adult male has a black throat, which allows it to be distinguished from the female.
