Elephant hawk-moth (Deilephila elpenor) on tree bark. Many long tubular flowers depend on this species for pollination since it has a sufficiently long proboscis to reach the deep base of the flowers. The caterpillars feed on grape vine leaves and on Hypericum plants. The elephant hawk-moth is found from Europe to Japan.
