We have bright prospects for Easter and think it will be a record-breaker. As to cut flowers, roses are plentiful, with good color and stem. Carnations are in good supply and the demand enough to take care of the crop. Long-stemmed American Beauties were quite scarce last week. The fine grade of sweet peas on the market, especially the Spencer varieties, has decreased the sale of vio- lets to some extent. Snapdragons are in fine crop, but as yet the demand is not good. Bulbous stock of all kinds is fine and brings a good price. Lilies are in good supply and sell well. Various Notes. J. Jackson and J. Johnson, who have been held by local authorities for pass- ing bogus checks on florists, were sen- tenced to the state penitentiary by Judge Brough, of the Common Pleas court. William Feniger has a number of ex- tra clerks engaged for the great rush. He told the writer that he felt it in his bones that this week will be a record-breaker. Mrs. E. Suder has her conservatory decorated most beautifully with many new varieties of rose plants. The conservatory is an excellent place for a fine display. A large fountain in the center, with goldfish around the base, gives the room the appearance of a palace garden. John Helmer has severed his connec- tions with Harry Heinl. The call of city life was too strong for Mr. Helmer, after seventeen years of employment with Mr. Heinl 'at the West Toledo branch.
