Beethoven plays for Mozart (standing next to pianoforte [early piano]) and several men and women in a salon in Vienna, Austria.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-91) was an Austrian composer. He was appointed an imperial chamber musician and court composer in 1787. Ludwig von Beethoven (1770-1827) was a German composer. He is considered the last of the classic and first of the romantic composers. Mozart's work greatly influenced Beethoven. In this 1917 illustration, Beethoven is shown playing for Mozart (standing next to pianoforte [early piano]) and several men and women in a salon in Vienna, Austria.
