Fossil ferns. Fossilised leaves of two types of fern from the Carboniferous era of around 300 million years ago. The darker, leafier fern is Senftenbergia sp., while the simpler, more symmetrical leaves belong to Sphenopteris sp. This fossil was found in Saar, Germany.
