Stepping stone for horse carriages

Historical property dates back to early 19th century when horse carriages required stepping stones for passengers arriving at important addresses. Built in 1820 by Charleston merchant John Robinson, it was sold because of financial obligations in 1827 to William Aiken, Sr., an Irish immigrant and successful Charleston merchant also who used it as a rental property.
