While the city authorities underthe ])re^ent laws cannot compel people to connect with the pipes of a private cor-poration, the rates are so low and the service so efiFicient and satisfactor\ thatmore than two-thirds of all the buildings b\- actual count are connected with theservice. The Atlantic Cit\- Sewerage Compan\-, its name since the reorganization, in1885, represents an investment of $400,000.
