The anterior process articulates with the ventromedial surface of the jugal, continuing along way forward as it does so, but never contributing to the ventral border of the lateraltemporal fenestra. The posterior part of the quadratojugal extends back from the dorsalarm for a short distance, but it is largely expressed as a medial process that overlaps thebase of the quadrate posteriorly (Fig. 11 A). This configuration of the quadratojugalcontributes to a large posterolateral and dorsal concavity in the lower posterolateral cornerof the skull, lateral to the lower half of the quadrate. 26 ANNALS OF THE SOUTH AFRICAN MUSEUM.
