An Indian cut wootz Damascus shield, 18th century, Slightly domed shield forged in one piece with riveted gold inlays on the edge. The surface embellished with ornamental and geometrical decoration chiselled in relief and partially with gold floral inlays. Four riveted openwork shield bosses made of wootz Damascus, on the reverse sturdy suspension loops with two leather straps, hand cushion and original (worn) velvet lining. Gold inlays partly rubbed.
