Porte de Gand (Gate of Gent) (Lille-Flanders-France)


The Porte de Gand (Gent Gate) was one of the main entrance of Lille till the XIXth century. It was built by the Spanish in 1620 (Raoul as architect) , and included further within the fortification system imagined by Vauban (Louis the Fourteenth period). It has been been totally restaured in 2004. This is, with the Porte de Roubaix (Roubaix Gate) an important monument of the prestigious history of Lille
