When people return from their summer travels, in September, the dearth of flowering shrubs on the lawn is always noticeable. In this vitex—chaste shrub, as it is called—there is one at least that blooms and pleases them. It bears panicles of lilac blue flowers, which are much appreciated, and the foliage is nicely scented.
