Nuclear decontamination workers. The workers are wearing sealed radiation protection suits and breathing apparatuses while they decontaminate a radioactive nuclear site. Here, they are crushing radioactive waste into a barrel for later disposal. All loose items used at nuclear sites must be treated as waste, including gloves, tape, protective clothes and tools. The waste is categorized as high, medium or low-level, according to the intensity of radiation it emits, and then crushed into the corresponding barrel. Photographed at the French nuclear research centre at Fontenay-aux-Roses, France.
