An assassination attempt on the 1st Duke of Ormonde, Lord Lieutenant of Ireland. He was attacked in London by Thomas Blood and his accomplices on the night of 6 December 1670. He was dragged out of his coach and taken on horseback with the intention of hanging him at Tyburn. Ormonde, however, succeeded in overcoming the horseman to whom he was bound, and escaped.
