[27; WOODS SIDE HEADS The ad-vantage ofWoodsDetach-able DiscCon-struction In all illustrations thruout the booklet, thereader perceives one decided advantage in theWOODS side head made possible thru ourdetachable construction; namely, the ready con-version of a head for working several difference in all our heads comes only in thediscs and cutters, and by changing these, a headfor working one class of stock is readily convertedfor handling some other pattern. Therefore millsadopting WOODS heads are not put to the un-necessary expense of buying a superfluous numberof heads. The disc in this illustration, which isour 2 S 6^ X 3 with jointing cutters, is applica-ble to any of the heads shown on the previouspages. For example, let us assume your ma-chine Is set up with a pair of our flooring headsand in operation. It is your intention when thruwith the run to work some square edge 6-Knife No. 2 S, 6\s x 3 Disc with No. 4686 T Cutters forJointing 4 Stock. 26 AND PROFILER HEADS Before passing on, your attention is directed totiie small hand gauge shown in the engraving onpage 20. It represents a most simple and effectivemethod of setting the grooving cutters. Thegauge is held in the hand, and the holder and cut-ter placed in it. When the correct position of theknife is ascertained, the gauge is set accordinglyby means of an adjusting screw which is posi-tioned by a check nut. This same setting is usedon the remaining cutters and their holders, whichinsures them all being the same. The great ad-vantage of this arrangement is that the groovingcutters can be set independently of the eliminates any lost time in resetting thegroovers in the head following the jointing opera-tion. The holders are so machined, that once thecutter is set in position it cannot be easily dis-turbed. Facility ofSetting upGrooveHead
