Light micrograph of a Pacinian corpuscle (centre), a sensory receptor for touch found in the skin. The corpusle consists of sensory nerve endings surrounded by capsules of membrane in 'onion-skin' layers. These cells are sensitive to changes in pressure and so are good at detecting vibrations.
