This is a real situation. Image not to be used in a defamatory context. Polycystic kidneys removed from a patient during a kidney transplant operation. The majority of the kidney's tissues have been replaced by cysts (brown). Polycystic kidney disease is one of the most common causes of chronic kidney failure in adults. It is an inherited condition that may occur at any age. Treatment is of the kidney failure, either with dialysis or transplantation.
