China: An English map of the Ming Empire by John Speed (1552 - 28 July 1629), 1626. John Speed (1552-1629) was a celebrated Elizabethan cartographer and historian. He was regarded as one of the best known English mapmakers of the early modern period. This map was produced towards the end of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).
