The standard ribbon is If inch wide and aboutToVo incn thick and in lengths approximately 200feet to each roll in America; and about 50 metersin Europe. The manufacturers furnish films,either perforated or unperforated, as desired. Theroll when received from the manufacturers is cov-ered with tinfoil and black paper, and encased ina tin box, sealed against the air. Operators Handbook 17. PHOTOGRAPHING. The Camera. The camera is equipped with a photographiclens of large aperture and short focus, so that itwill work with a quick exposure. The casing orbox contains suitable mechanism for guiding andfeeding the film step by step in the focus of thelens, and a rotary shutter with one or more radialslits therein so arranged that the lens is uncoveredonly when the film is momentarily arrested, thelatter being pulled down quickly between exposuresso as to present a fresh surface each time.
