Wendy Carolina Calix is 39 years she was 12 years old, both her parents were arrested and she had to live with her sisters. She quickly became lonely and isolated. Her brother tried to rape her, and so she began to turn to the MS13 gang as a family. With them she felt she started to hang with the MS13 and started using drugs, she was locked out of her sisters’ house. She kicked the door in and went to bed, but was woken by a group of men who all raped her and stole almost everything in the house. Three days later, her sisters found her. There is only one prison in Honduras that holds only women. The Penitenciaria Nacional Femenina de Adaptación Social, based in Tamara, 40km from the Honduran capital Tegucigalpa, holds 700 female prisoners and is the only facility in the country where infants can live with their mothers. The prison is home to 49 children, and six more babies on the way
