An historic woodcut showing the interior of a Tudor School room showing the teacher and pupils, some of which are playing with a pet dog apparently without concern to the schoolmaster. There were two main types of official schools in Tudor times,Grammar Schools which taught boys Latin; and Petty Schools which taught boys aged 4-7 (similar to our infant schools). Most were fee paying and were often run by monasteries. Few girls received a full education.
