It is caused also by edemaof the uterine wall, from adjacent in-flammation or from a tumor interferingwith the circulation or from marked dis-placement. Hard Nodules felt in the Corpus Uterimay be due to parts of the child in preg-nancy or to fibromyomata or to a malig-nant tumor. In rare cases an athero-matous or sclerotic process may causehardening of areas appreciable to thefinger. Also, a mass of exudate or someadherent structure may cause a hard massthat appears, on bimanual examination,to be a part of the uterus.
